[You’ve played several seasons in the Premier League for major clubs such as Chelsea, Everton, Stoke City: in Serie A you played only 2 matches in AC Milan. What is the biggest difference between Serie A and the Premier League, and in which league did you settle in better?]''Mi sento a casa in Inghilterra.
[For me, England is like home. I moved from Bosnia very early as a refugee and lived in Germany and Canada, but I spent most of my life here in England. I also played in all professional leagues in the country, so of course, I settle easier here. However, I love Milano, I love the Italian style of living, their football as well, and I had no issues settling there. I loved my time in Milàn and am proud that I was a part of such a big club and such a great team.] [In 2020, you landed in AC Milan, definitely contributing to the growth of that team, also thanks to your international experience. What was the atmosphere within that context, and a comment on Stefano Pioli’s management as coach?] Stefano è un grande manager: aperto, trasparente, parla molto con i giocatori, mi è piaciuto lavorare con lui'' [When I arrived there, I was aware of the fact that one of my main tasks was to bring in experience, character, and be a support for younger players. And I must say, I really enjoyed that role because I could see a positive change within the squad, and I know that I was contributing to that change. Stefano is a great manager; he is open, transparent, talked to the players a lot, and I loved working with him.]- In questa stagione abbiamo già visto la rete di un portiere in Champions League (Provedel in Lazio-Atletico Madrid) ed un attaccante improvvisarsi portiere (Giroud in Genoa-Milan).
[This season we have already seen a goalkeeper scoring in the Champions League (Provedel in Lazio-Atletico Madrid), and a striker improvising himself as goalkeeper (Giroud in Genoa-Milan). I wanted to ask you what does it feel as a goalkeeper in certain circumstances of the game, and how important it is to maintain lucidity and concentration throughout the game.] [Being a keeper is never an easy task. In a team environment, you are still the strongest individual, in terms that you have to do things on your own and still be dependent on all the others. Focus and concentration are crucial; you need to be on top of your game for 90 minutes, be ready for everything and anything. But, this is what I enjoy the most, this special feeling of being the special one, the only one, the one that everything starts and finishes with.] On November 2, 2013, in Stoke City-Bournemouth, you scored after only 13 seconds from the start of the game. What was the first thing you thought at that moment? To be honest, the first thing I thought was how sorry I felt for a fellow keeper. It was windy, it was the beginning of the game, and it could happen to every one of us, and this is why I did not celebrate the way I wanted. But of course, I was happy; it was a fantastic feeling, something you do dream of but never expect to happen, not that way. I was in the Guinness Book of Records, everyone was talking about it, and it is still one of the first questions I get, and I really enjoyed that.]
